Jamaica has an area of 1000 km2 and is thus the largest English-speaking Caribbean island, with 2,758,124 inhabitants. 25-30% of the population live in the capital Kingston, which lies along the southern coast. Kingston is the country's largest city. All speak English in Jamaica, they speak with a vague accent and it can be difficult to understand what they say, they have very own words and slang.

During the 1500's until 1720 the pirates had its stronghold on the island, mainly refuge Port Royal, where the movie "Pirates of Caribbean" with Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley have been recorded. The country was then called "Santiago" and was a Spanish colony until 1655 when the British took over and was called "the British colony of Jamaica." The country became independent in 1962, but still belongs to England with Queen Elizabeth II. Most of the country have African origin, and many are descendants of the slaves who were transported to the island to work on the large sugar cane plantations. But there are also many people from such India, China and Ireland.

Rastafarian do not believe that God (Jah) is in heaven but here on earth, a small part of Jah is in every person (Africans). And every rasta Pharisees goal is to find within themselves jah.
